What did I get for my birthday? A watch, earrings, new dress, was I taken out to dinner?
No to all of the above - I got an Optimum 9200a - I know!!! - how jealous are you??
For those of you not in the know ( and to be frank ..... who is frank?? - I hadn't heard of it ) it is not the latest offering from Ann Summer but a blender which is claiming to be a rival to the Vitamix, which I have dreamed of owning.
I can now make hummus, smoothies, nut butters, nut milks, spreads ...... the possibilities appear endless.
My last blender was a good enough one but I burnt the motor out trying to make nicecream ( ice cream you just make with bananas ) all the Intagrammers made it look so simple....and so delicious - I will fill you in on that on another post.
Back to my new present. What to make first? I try to follow Dr Greger's Daily Dozen
challenge - there is information in the link and there is also an app, which is what I prefer.
So, new toy, makes smoothies, how many of my Daily Dozen can I cram into one smoothie?
Super-Charged Green Smoothie:
1 Green Apple
Thumb of fresh Ginger
1 tbsp Flax Seeds
1 tsp Chia Seeds
300ml Coconut Milk
I have not done the smoothie justice with the dreadful image above, for which I apologise, in my haste to post about my new friend - The Optimum 9200a - I started guzzling down the smoothie before I realised you might want to see what it turned out like??? Just a thought!!! It did look like the caption picture in the jug and it was delicious!
Tomorrow's smoothie will feature a frozen banana because it wasn't quite as cold as I would have liked it, I am going to throw in some cooked beans or chick peas and a handful of nuts so that I can cross off another few items on my Daily Dozen.
All in all I am amazed at how the Optimum smashed the stuff to bits in under 30 seconds.
So I am sorry Innocent but I won't be buying your plastic-bottled smoothies anymore (even though they are delicious!)
